When the busy pace of work and school slows down, the Koeblers like to stay home and cook. A respectful renovation gave them a kitchen that is at once up-to-date and true to the classic character of their house.
The Koebler Bungalow
A series of renovations brightened and enlarged Kurt and Angie Koebler's once red-brick 1910 Arts & Crafts-style bungalow in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Before: Dining Area

Before: Sink
"We wanted the kitchen to look old, like the rest of the house," she says. And they needed to stick to a budget. All told, they spent nine months planning the new kitchen. Then, they combed the Internet for bargains.
